The SF office came to our campus and conducted a "pre-interview workshop", and then took us out to dinner. The next day, we had our interviews. I liked some of the people who worked there, but unfortunately, I got interviewed by the two employees I felt I connected with the least. To be honest, they were very cold and negative during the interview, which did not really make sense to me, as we had all just had dinner the night before. I felt that the tone of the interview was too unfamiliar, given the circumstances. Though I didn't like the girls, I'd spent 1.5 hours on one side of the dinner table talking with them. It almost felt like meeting different people. I felt like the questions asked were also very negative (see below). What disappointed me most about the experience was that they did not tell me I didn't get it. I wrote a nice follow up email to everyone, and they all said it was great meeting me. After not hearing back for a week on my result, I had to find out through one of the other candidates that, the very same day Alphasights wrote me back on my follow up email, they contacted people who got it. I just think it was negligent of them, given that this is a small school and it was an even smaller group of candidates; we're going to talk about our results, so why not save me the trouble of finding out that I didn't get it from a friend and just tell it to my face? Pretty upsetting, as I had to skip work and class to do all of the necessary events. AlphaSights, if you happen to read this: just be straight up and tell people if you don't want them.
