Me postulé en línea. El proceso tomó 2 meses. Acudí a una entrevista en ALDI (Atherstone, England) en nov 2023
Entrevista
1. Online application and suitability test. 2. Automated video interview. Question popped up on screen and I had 60 seconds to answer. 3. Psychometric test - various tests that were rather difficult. 4. Video interview with member of HR. Both competency based questions and questions regarding why Aldi and why I suited the role. 5. In person interview with managing director. No competency based questions. All questions about Aldi and leadership. Included a 10 minute exercise where I had to put 14 tasks in order for a scenario where you are an area manager and have to call a meeting in an area where staff turnover is high. MD then ripped apart the order I did it in. MD was friendly but very intrusive in his questioning. Felt I did well in the interview considering I had probably spent at least 50 hours preparing. Received an email 2 days after saying I had not been successful and no feedback available. Initially disappointed not to receive feedback but they clearly use this final interview to ascertain whether you are the “Aldi type”. Having read other reviews on glass door and other websites, I now see it as a blessing.

Why Aldi? What makes a good leader ? Why should I employ you over the person who comes in for the next interview ? How can Aldi be successful in the future ? When was the last time you went to Aldi and what did you notice in store ? What could Aldi add to its product range ? Tell me about a theoretical concept you struggle to understand?
I was invited to the short video interview - still waiting to hear but will be surprised if it is successful because it is really difficult to answer the 'interview style' questions in the 60 seconds allowed. The questions were actually fine, and I had prepared well and could answer them all, I even practiced ahead of the interview but they were questions that I would have expected to answer in a normal interview, not 60 seconds. As such, I really just didn't feel like I could do them justice. There is guidance that says 'look at the camera', 'relax' and 'we want to get to know you', but the format of the interview just really doesn't allow for all of that and answering the questions! I will include the questions below, which you will see need much more than 60 seconds to do them justice. I understand this may be a sifting process, but I just don't know how effective it is!

Started the process (online) whilst abroad on holiday - had to wait until I returned home to fill in some of the detail for the application form element.
Started off with some online video scenarios, where you had to decide (multiple choice) which was your preferred option to address the situation. Passed that stage, was then invited to create an account to progress through to next stage (completion of application form).
Application form stage passed - was then sent a link to complete a video interview ... a series of 6 questions (plus an initial practice one, that you can record over and over again until you're happy - this one doesn't get submitted).
With the majority of questions, you have a 30-second countdown to read the question on screen and prepare what you are going to say in response. You then have 60 seconds for your response! Main issue being that some of the questions have 3 or 4 parts to them - it's REALLY difficult to cover all of the points in under a minute!
