      Entrevista

Pathetic process, especially for the company in the domain of Human Resources. It’s jaw dropping how far the internal recruitment processes and approach to a potential employee might be from whatever you can read on 15five website, blog, etc. Just two different worlds. Now I have been in more than 10 recruitment processes, and the 15five one was the worst experience I had. I applied for a Product Owner role. 9 days later I was contacted back that actually I am a better fit for a Scrum Master. So I followed the advice and applied, letting know the party who contacted me that I did that. I got a quick enthusiastic ‘thank you’ reply which was the last nice encounter in the process. 7 days later I was contacted by a different recruiter responsible for a Scrum Master role. I set up an appointment in the proposed calendar. Since I have not received any system reply from the interview platform, I also wrote an email to her that I just did that. There was no response, either. 8 minutes before the booked time and date I got an email that she was running late but would be available shortly. Ok fine, I thought. But she also had forgotten to get me the link to interview platform (Zoom) so I replied to email immediately asking for this. The reply came back 15 minutes after the booked time started. So I logged in, and waited for 5 minutes, another 5 and so on, until the whole 30-minute interview slot elapsed. She did not show up, despite me sending her emails that I am waiting. Few minutes later I got the reply with a ‘sorry’ message, asking for a reschedule for 2 days later, same date and time. Certainly I agreed. This time the story repeated, only it was harsher. It seemed I got forgotten, as I received no confirmation for the rescheduled meeting on Wednesday. So next day I sent an email asking to get me the link to Zoom. As you might expect, there was no reply. Puzzled, I did make myself available on Wednesday anyway, used the link from two days earlier and logged in, but she did not show up. No sign from her in any way, shape or form. She did not write any email, either. I was pretty upset with such an approach. So I wrote a kind email to her, asking what was going on. But in vain. No answer received. So next day, I wrote another email – this time to the recruiter who contacted me first with the suggestion to apply for a Scrum Master, explaining the whole situation and asking for help/guidance, since she became totally unresponsive. The first recruiter replied within 45 minutes 😊, and apologized and cc’ed the 2nd recruiter as well, promising she will reschedule and send me the link soon. And indeed, this happened 3,5 hours later. I received the link from 2nd recruiter for an interview, in 4 days. The interview itself was the least pleasant experience I had in a long time. Out of approximately 20 interviews I had for different roles, on this I was treated with zero interest, and felt like it was more interrogation that a genuine talk aimed at learning who the candidate is. She sounded offensive, and after a few questions she made me not interested in the position; my thoughts were around how is the culture of this startup, if an interview looks like this? This young girl is yawning right in front of me, as if she forgot the camera is on. I think she yawned couple of times, maybe I bored her. Definitely she made me feel aggravated by her attitude, no interest, no engagement and even no respect for a candidate with 15 years of experience. Really bad experience. Towards 85% of interview time, I ran into connection problems. Needed to restart the computer, it lasted a few minutes. I managed to get back 5 minutes before the end of interview, but she was already gone. I emailed her I was online, but she did not return. 2 hours later she sent me back an email saying ‘no worries’ – she can follow up with me soon. But of course she never did. Since she did not, I emailed her a few questions I still had in my mind the next day. Was there any answer? You guessed right – no answer came back. Of course this was the end. Two days after the interview, I got a pretty much automated template thank you email from 15five that they found a better candidate. And to make the pathetic experience even more intense, she titled me ‘Kisha’. No, I am not a female. I am a male, and have a totally different name. What strucks me here is how far anything I learnt during the process with the 2nd recruiter is from what the 15five company tries to impose on any visitor on their sites. They seem such a friendly, people oriented company. But my reality proved totally the opposite. It was a disastrous process and horrible experience.

Thank you for this thorough account of your experience. Everything you detail out here is completely unacceptable, unprofessional and we are very sorry that you experienced multiple shortcomings in our process and candidate treatment. We really appreciate not only the time that you spent on scheduling and interviewing, but more importantly, the time that you took to write this up and share it back to us. We've learned a lot from this series of unfortunate misses and are sorry that you did not get to experience some of the more positive sides of 15Five's culture. We are grateful for your feedback.
