The Manager Processing and Metallurgy is responsible for providing leadership to the RCoE metallurgical team for the purpose of providing specialist technical services (as required), governance and assurance to BHP’s global metallurgical assets to support improvement of current performance and move the metallurgical operations to material future performance improvement.
This critical leadership position is responsible for:
- Coordinates the work of the RCoE Metallurgical team to meet the organizational purpose of the RCoE in terms of metallurgy and processing.
- Assurance of metallurgical 2-year budgets and Business plans against relevant global standards
- Coaching, development, and leadership of a high performing technical team.
- Identifies and implements systems that supports the capability development of metallurgical professionals globally.
- Maintains and builds a global metallurgical working group (Community of Practice) to connect BHP’s metallurgical discipline globally, share thinking and ideas and keep the community abreast of emerging trends and Innovation.
- Provides technical governance across BHP’s major projects through IPR’s and EPR’s.
Provides technical and due diligence support to Business Development for potential new investments.
- Ensure conformance with the BHP Charter, the BHP Group and Business Level Documents and Code of Conduct.
- Provide leadership and an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility, sustainable development.
- Ensure conformance with BHP risk management process including the execution and verification of critical controls.
- Ensure compliance with relevant statutory and regulatory obligations.
- Engage with Projects teams to ensure optimal delivery of capital projects including input into studies, design, execution, commissioning and operational readiness through governance and assurance processes.
- Engage with metallurgical assets to provide technical guidance and assurance against relevant global standards.
- Ensure that subject matter expertise and technical knowledge in metallurgy and process engineering are shared and continuously available across the business.
- Provides leadership to the RCoE metallurgical team – setting KPI’s, monitoring and providing feedback on performance, setting and supporting development plans.
