Crucell wants to play a crucial role in the fight against deadly diseases. The global biotech firm develops, produces, and markets vaccines and antibodies to prevent and treat infectious diseases. Many of its products are based on its PER.C6 technology platform, and its primary product lines are focused on pediatric, travel, endemic (native to certain regions), and respiratory ailments. Crucell's marketed vaccines fight about a dozen major infectious diseases (including diptheria, hepatitis A and B, influenza, and typhoid) and are offered in more than 100 countries worldwide. The company was acquired by Johnson & Johnson (J&J) in 2011, becoming J&J's primary vaccine unit.
