Thank you for your honest feedback. We apologize that your experience left you a bit confused about where the process was headed. The interview steps in Engineering are fairly standardized across all platforms, but it sounds like we might not have done our due diligence to ensure each interviewer had the big picture. We are investing in additional resources/training this year with the expectation that we will improve the interview experience for all.
At this time (subject to changes), our interview process in Engineering typically goes as follows:
Stage 1 – Interview with a Recruiter.
Stage 2 – Two steps: 1 interview with a Hiring Manager and 1 technical interview with a Senior Engineer.
Stage 3 – Three steps: 1 take-home coding project (less than 4 hours), code review of take-home project with ~2 onX Engineers, and 2 to 3 final interviews with Engineers from the team with the open position. For Senior level positions, we require that one of the final interviews be with either our VP of Engineering or Senior Director of Engineering.
Note that we treat every interview as a two-way conversation. We understand that you are interviewing us as a potential employer just as much as we are interviewing you as a potential team member. We encourage you to ask questions in order to get to know us. :)
Again, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. If you have additional comments, we welcome you to share feedback using our recruitment@onXmaps.com email address.
