OK that comment is hilarious. I have to agree there were no interfaces or abstract methods in any of the code that I had seen, and not nearly enough OOP. However, I think it is a good question because OOP NEEDS to become more prevalent there, and hiring people who understand what a pure virtual method really is is one way to get that done.

Having it as a question won't make them use OOP. Come on now, they never have money for anything, much less moving the code out of the 80's. If it would, it would have changed a long time ago. There are already plenty of high level people there who want OOP, but it never happens because of red tape. So really having the interview questions makes no difference in those terms.

Dumb question IMHO : "pure virtual call" OK, "virtual function" OK, but "pure virtual function" is totally meaningless...
