Application, Test Article, and Learning Assignment followed by interview with CEO. The interview was made more difficult by the opaque instructions that accompanied the Learning Assignment. I was told to read 7 or 8 articles on various topics and be ready to answer detailed questions about them. In other words, it was presented as a retention exercise, but in reality the interview required a deeper knowledge than the articles provided. I would recommend candidates interviewing for this position read wider than the materials provided (especially if not a finance major), make sure they understand the relevant concepts and how they operate, and be ready to answer questions involving mental arithmetic. I've rated the interview difficult due to the fact that I couldn't prepare properly given the instructions. With clearer instructions it would have been average -- but a little adversarial. My rating of the "Overall Experience" may also have been positive provided clearer instructions. It wasn't negative.

The first step and point of contact was from a recruiter inviting me to complete a writing test. The test was writing an article on the process of closing on a house. I had a week to complete the assignment and then moved onto the next step of editing the article per their instructions. After passing the writing test, I was given links to 10 finance articles and a week to study them. I was interviewed/quizzed via a 30 minute Skype video call with my recruiter. There was one question they wanted me to look into further because I didn't get the answer quite right. Soon after I was scheduled to have another Skype video interview with the CEO. The CEO was extremely busy and my interview kept getting pushed back, eventually occurring over 2 hours after the original scheduled time. The interview was brief; we went over my background, why I want to work at WalletHub/what I know about the company, as well as being quizzed further on the material I read. It was pretty similar to all the other writer interview experiences that have already been posted.

I applied online and I am well suited for the job. I actually have my own finance blog and have a finance degree so I was the best person anyone could want for this position. I was first given an article to write on the closing process which I wrote well. My next step was to read 10 articles on credit cards and be ready for questions about those articles. I studied for about 2 days and knew everything. The day of the interview the call was scheduled with an employee who was in Romania. He was 10 minutes late to the call so I called him. He answered my call and hung up. He ended up saying he was in a call and had to hang up that call to answer mine. So it was a rocky start, and there wasn't any chit chat he just started asking me questions about the articles which I answered. I could hear him typing my responses and he wasn't engaged at all. He asked another question and I answered and he kept saying ok ok, what else? Like wanting me to get the answer incorrectly. Overall, he was very unprofessional and I didn't even want the job at this point. I answered the rest of the questions and the one question I didn't give him a good response to he wanted me to follow up via email. I did, and he responded 10 minutes later that they will not proceed with my application due to my response and application score. I wouldn't have accepted the offer if this process is any indication of how an employee is treated at WalletHub. The other reviews on here are accurate, doesn't seem like a company that cares for it's employees. Had a pretty terrible interview experience.
