My Experience with TCS TCS off-campus placement for 2014 & 2015 Batches. I am a 2014 Pass-out, BE in Electronics and Telecommunication Graduate. ********************Interview*********************** Place of Interview: TCS Guwahati, NEDFI House 5th Floor, Guwahati, Assam Date of Interview: 10th March 2015. Reporting time of Interview: 9 AM We were waiting for our turn of interview. They have taken the interviews of 2015 batch till 1PM so we were waiting. After lunch at 2PM, Interviews for 2014 batch has started. My turn has come at 4PM. We(2014batch) needed to sign a declaration that we can join TCS before 31st March 2015. Interviewer: Just wait few mins outside. Me: Okay sir. After 5mins they called me inside. 3 Interviewers were there. Interviewer: Tell briefly about yourself. Me: Told. Interviewer: I am giving you two options. Option 1) I'll ask you only one very tough question, if you can answer it then will be selected or else rejected. or Option 2) The normal interview procedure. Me: Sir, I would go for Option 1. Int: Are you sure? Me: Yes sir. Int: If you can't answer, you will be rejected. Me: I will answer sir. Int: Alright. Int(pointing his hand towards an unsymmetrical table) : Where is the centrifugal force acting on this table.? Me(After thinking little) : Sir it acts on the center of mass of the table. Int: But where? Me: Sir in the center of mass(CM). Int: You need to show me. Me: Sir this table is unsymmetrical, so it's not easy to find the CM of this table unlike a symmetrical body. Int: That's what I told you before it would be tough question. TCS is a big company. So you cant expect easy questions when I told you that I would ask tough questions. Me: Silent....But this question was complex, not answerable normally by just looking at table. Int: You could not answer the question. So now what can be done with you. Do you want us to follow normal interview procedure? Me:Yes sir. Int: You have passed out in 2014, so what are you doing these days? Me: Sir I clearing all my doubts of my engineering subjects and doing some on-line courses such as data structures etc. Int: You dint apply for job or uploaded CV in somewhere? Me: Actually I sat for Capgemini in 2013, but could not clear GD, so thereafter have not sat for any interview. Int: Okay. Have you done any computer courses? Me: Sir I know C, C++. Int: But have you done any courses? Me: No. Int(after observing my CV): What is the difference between CDMA and GSM? (This question was asked as my Project was on communication system) Me: Told. Int: How a signal can be transmitted. Me: Told. Int: What are types of modulation? Me: Drawn AM,PM,FM signal and make them understand. Int: Why modulation is required? Me: Told. Int: How signal attenuates ? Me: Told. Int: Can we store AC, DC? Me: Told. Int: Dint you do any programming courses? Me: I actually like to do programming courses, so I myself have tried to learn Java,HTML,Python. But I have very basic knowledge of it. Int: So you know HTML. Tell me what is the difference between C and HTML? Me:Told. Int: What is the difference between interpreted and compile time language? Me:Told. Int: You know c++. So tell What is Inheritance? Me:Told. Int: What is a class? Me:Told. Int:What is an object? Me:Told. Int: Alright. So you told that you dint clear GD of Capgemini. So what have you done to overcome that. Me: Since then everyday I watch Times Now at 9PM and read newspaper everyday. Int(Jokingly): Thats why you are talking like Arnab Goswami. Me(with smile): No sir. Int: Okay. Since your selection depends a lot on this table(pointing towards the table of the first question) so I will give you 60 secs. Tell as many lines as you can about that Table. Me: Told just 4 lines about it. Int: You have just told 4 lines. Me: Yes sir. Int: Can you join before 31st March if you get the job? Me: Yes sir, no problem. Int: Do you have any problem of relocation in India? Me: No sir. Int: Are you aware of 2years Bond? Me: Yes sir. Int: Okay Thank you. You can leave now. Me: Thank you sir. My interview was going on for around half an hour. They just try to check your confidence. They will try to confuse you for your every answer. But be confident and answer. 12th March 2015: Got the offer letter via email. Got the job. Got TCS. Yeahhhh :) Still not sure whether I will join TCS or not.
