Entrevista para Sales Floor Team Member

Me postulé en línea. El proceso tomó 2 días. Acudí a una entrevista en Target (Manhattan, KS) en sept 2018

      Entrevista

They asked me to come in during one of their “hiring events”. I wish I had said no and scheduled a regular interview time because I ended up waiting way longer then I had for any other interview (even though I was asked for a specific time that I would come during the event and showed up on time). Showing up on time for an interview is key but if they’re busy with others they likely will never even notice if you were on time or not and you lose one of the most important first impression opportunities you can give an employer! The Target employee I had talked with over the phone (who I’d set up the interview with) was busy with another interview so I was asked to have a seat and talk to different employee first. However this other interview was all taking place literally within 3 to 4 feet from where I was sitting and I could hear everything they were saying! That’s how I knew I didn’t get the job. I overheard her tell the other interviewee “well great I’m ready to offer you a job right now”. So later, after she was done interviewing me, I knew that hearing “well I’m interviewing many for this position so we’ll let you know by Monday!” was pretty much a rejection! Finally the interview before me had concluded (jumping back now to before the “rejection”) and I got to meet with the Target employee I’d first had contact with over the phone a couple days earlier. I had originally applied online for one position but when contacted over the phone was told the only position they could offer me was something else. Now I was sitting face to face with this same individual and asked “so what position are you most interested in”. It was as if we had never even talked over the phone! She was very polite and cordial but by this point the unprofessionalism of the processes was starting to sink in and hard for me to get past. It just felt like a cattle call that’s only purpose was to drive in volume of perspective employees. Impersonal, very unprofessional and felt like I was just a tally mark on their quota sheet. Anyhow the interview was pretty standard, 4 “situational” questions, they go over your availability and inform you a few times that all employees except the “team leaders” and mangers are part-time (so I assume without benefits even if pulling in 40 hours a week). And be prepared to say you’re at least available for 90 of the 104 hours the store is open each week (my availability was only for 73 of those hours) or they probably will move to the next candidate. You obviously don’t have to work all those hours but they want to have as many as possible they can call to come in and “pick up the slack” if necessary! At the end they said they’d be calling people on Monday (in 48 hours) to let them know, and not surprisingly I never got a call, never got an email.

This was a few years ago, but I just went in and spoke with the manager in their office. Very casual and quick interview. Only 1 interview was required which was nice!

It was very quick and I was hired on immediately. I was a college student going to TAMU Galveston at the time. The team was pretty easy going but just not there to help me grow as an individual.
