Me postulé a través de un reclutador. El proceso tomó 3 semanas. Acudí a una entrevista en Starbucks (Budapest) en mar 2013

      Entrevista

I saw their Shift Supervisor ad via on FB, check the requirements and applied to a given email address. IMPORTANT that I'm in a career change situation, I used to have a leader position in the nonprofit sector, but I'm heading to for-profit business now. I sent my CV after refreshing my brand knowledge from several sources: their locally offered drinks and food, additional services, social involvement, and environmental policy, as well as Glassdoor data. It's very helpful to obtain their lingo and know their guidelines. I got a call right the next day, 10mins interview, then a personal interview arrangement with the recruiter and the Store Manager in two days. I used this time to read Howard Schultz's 2nd book on SBUX brand crisis. I arrived to the interview early so I could have a Caramel Macchiato before - then we hit the interview. It was very nice and polite, questions ranged from people skills, motivating a team, earlier experiences when facing a lazy/challenging team member, business partnerships, accounting skills, brand knowledge. Right at the table I was offered another corporate position, and was promised to get a call-back next week. The coming Monday morning, I got a call from the recruiter, saying it's obvious to have me for a more compelling job, and whether I'm interested in Store Manager position. I gladly said yes and we agreed on the next interview appointment that week. Beforehand I had to fill out 3 online surveys, one of them behavioral, the others numerical and data-interpretation. Then I had the interview with two Store Managers and the recruiter, and this was more diificult yet one can handle it with common sense and reasonable analytical skills. I was asked to give suggestions to boost the venue's sales, which required the knowledge of the neighborhood (whether is a morning-rush coffee house or an afternoon spot, what schools are there, are those private or municipal schools, how would the strategy change if it would be at another location, is it likely to boost brand awareness via community involvement, etc.) Then they asked me additional questions about team skills, my former position's challenges, practices to handle clients, and a couple of situational questions.

      Preguntas de entrevista [4]

      Pregunta 1

Shift Supervisor: You and a barista partner are expected to do the store opening, and s/he doesn't show up. What would you do? Next: It happens again, not long after the first occasion. How would you handle that?

      Pregunta 2

Shift Supervisor: I had to ask questions at the end of the interview. I cited an article from adage.com, stating the in the US, SBUX is loosing its reputation, and it even stands for all the hardships the economic crisis brought for the people. I asked whether it's the same in Europe, or we managed to stay afloat, still providing our customers premium quality service.

      Pregunta 3

General: How do you imagine yourself working at SBUX on the long run?

      Pregunta 4

Store Manager: Tell me a time when you fought to have your say in a corporate decision! What was the situation, what did you have to achieve, how did you do it, and did it work out?

The interview process was low stress, and I was offered a drink by a barista while waiting for the manager. We spoke about my previous relevant work experience, and how I've handled different situations with customers.
