Me postulé en línea. El proceso tomó 4 semanas. Acudí a una entrevista en Netcracker Technology (Waltham, MA) en ago 2013

      Entrevista

I really don’t know what to say about this place. In August 2013 I applied for a graphic designer job and was contacted by them. My one concern about the role was that the description said "must have good understanding of current web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)." I know HTML and CSS, but not JavaScript et al., as I am not a programmer. I brought this up during the call, and he said that’s not a problem because this is not a programming job. I was brought in for an interview, and I thought the one-hour meeting went flawlessly. I left the interview feeling confident that I had proven I “knew my stuff” and was the perfect candidate for the role, and that my nightmare of a job hunt was finally going to end. Imagine my shock and devastation when I received the rejection email from them one week later. It wasn’t so much the rejection per se, but what they used to disqualify me – “we have decided to pursue someone with more technical skills, like HTML/CSS…” Um, did these people just not listen to what I had said – that I can do HTML/CSS just fine? Or did they just make that up because the real reason they dismissed me was my advanced old age (I was 45 at the time, and the state of Massachusetts is trying very hard to become just like Silicon Valley in kicking out “old people” from the workforce here)? (When that rejection email came through, my mom was visiting me. I didn’t want her to see me break down, so I quietly snuck outside onto my deck where I silently cried while facing towards the woods. I eventually lost that house due to not having any better luck with the Massachusetts job market.) Less than a year later, they re-advertised the exact same job, and again several times since (never once changing the description to “we’re looking for someone with more technical/programming skills”), which always made me sad. And, today, I see them advertising for a designer yet again, which is what prompted me to finally write this review. So, is this job completely fake (like most jobs being advertised these days)? Or are they disqualifying everyone deemed “too old” for their “cultural fit?” Who knows what's going on here…In conclusion, I finally got smart and applied for a job in a city 500 miles away – they paid for my flight to the interview, treated me wonderfully, and I am now awaiting an offer which they said was forthcoming after a standard background check. Good riddance to the Massachusetts job market which has been made decrepit by companies like Netcracker. Good riddance to both of them.
