got an email from recruiter, had a conversation with hiring manager, had a tech screen - passed. Requested a compensation discussion. Got a call from HR one week later. HR person talked to me as if they were extending an offer, asking about target compensation, picking start date, discussing options, vacations, bonuses. Finished up with "will send you a draft shortly, and following up with DocuSign". One week of silence. I sent an email for an update. Got "We sincerely appreciate your efforts ... we will not be proceeding with an offer"
