I filled the online application. They replied via email asking for me to schedule a phone interview. I did that. I got several reminder texts that a hiring manager from Kohl's would be calling me at the specific time I designated. The day and time comes, and no call. I wait 5 minutes. Still no call. I refer back to the email which says to call the store you are applying to and ask for the hiring manager if you don't receive the call. I did. I was put on hold 4 different times, only to finally reach the hiring manager who sounded like she had just woke up from a nap. She said who she was and asked, and I quote, "so what does this job you put on here mean? You're already working somewhere?". Her tone was so rude. I explained that I am an instructor at a college, and that if the number of new registered students are too low that I will not have that job for that semester; I also explained that if there were enough students that I would still be able to work PT, only in the evenings. She seemed still very confused and didn't seem to care. Then she asked if I was only available Mon-Fri, or all week. I said Mon-Fri only. She asked why. I explained to her that I assist my mother with care for my pre-dementia grandmother on Saturday and Sunday so my mother can have a break. She quickly cut me off and explained that employees MUST (she put much emphasis) work every other weekend. I said I understood and if that was a deal-breaker that I would not be able to work there, no hard feelings. Mind you, nowhere in the application did it specify that as rule or fact, if it did I simply would not have applied at all. She had no personal questions for me, no understanding or concern. She was curt, short, rude, and sleepy. Why make such an emphasis on making sure I was ready to take an interview on the phone and then don't even make the effort to call?? Bizarre. I would not want to work with this HR. Got the email earlier that I was not chosen to go through with the application. All good, just wish I didn't waste my time and energy filling out an application for such a crap experience.
