PTSD experience. Initially declined the interview after the recruiter gave me the JD which indicates a salary band below my asking range. Recruiter then told me the salary is negotiable and I decided to give it a try. The initial interview process (physical interview from the start) went well. Then the Procurement director came in abruptly and asked me for my current salary. He then straighy up declared that they are unable to match and told me that would be the end of the interview if I am not able to accept. I tried asking again if this was negotiable (as was told by the recruiter) but he said no. It was to be noted that he wasn't tactful in the delivery and also that the main interviewer seemed shocked by his statements as well. Overall a really traumatic experience and I would advise people to think twice before applying with such characters as your upper levels of management.
