I completed a phone screen with the recruiter and was told my responses warranted an interview with the hiring manager. I clearly outlined my availability, which indicated I was unavailable the following two weeks, but was reassured that the hiring manager would be able to work with this timeline. The recruiter advised me that I could always reach out to her if I had questions about where we were in the process or if I needed reassurance, because she knew how it feels to be out of work for such a long time while trying to support a family, like me. The hiring manager sent me an email with a date of when she would contact me after my unavailable period ended, but she did not contact me. I waited a few days to reach out to demonstrate my ability to be patient and understanding before I ended up contacting her. She sent a very confusing communication asking when I would be available and then gave me a several hour timeframe of when she could contact me within my window of availability. Then, she called me outside of the timeframe she quoted, and left a voicemail telling me if I still want to interview, I could call her back. As soon as I realized the missed call was from her (very questionable phone number on the caller ID), I called back but had to leave a voicemail. After two full business days without a call back from her, I sent a follow up email to indicate my continued interest and express my ongoing availability to speak further about the position. After several more days without a response, I emailed the recruiter to see if she could lend me any insight, as she advised during the phone screen would be within reason, but she did not respond either. This is my husband’s company, and he provided me with the referral because his former manager was the hiring manager. As he had a relationship with her and rapport, he decided on his own to reach out to her and just let her know that I was still interested and looking forward to hearing from her. She didn’t respond to him, either. It’s been over a month now since this all happened. They have reposted the position three times now and counting. I haven’t received a decline notification, but also they just stopped talking to me out of the blue. Edit: And I forgot to mention, before they even contacted me to set up the phone screen with the recruiter, they requested me to give permission for a background check and credit check. I completed that immediately upon receipt, and I saw the results were available to the company very quickly after my submission of the necessary forms.
