Anyway, I got the "don't talk to any humans, just complete this big take-home assignment". Pros: - No performance anxiety with on-the-spot coding, THANK YOU. - They were very speedy with both sending the assignment (like a day or two after I applied) and the result (maybe 4 days after I submitted). - They were very clear in how their process works; I always appreciate that. - The assignment itself is fun: it's hard and meaty and generally fun to work on. Cons: - Take-home assignments advantage people who have ample free time/flexibility. If you're a parent... uh, yeah, it's mostly working late into the night. - If you're keen on getting an interview, you can spend a LOT of time on the assignment. I probably spent 6+ hours? - Zero feedback, which sucked, since the initial transparency (this is how we hire, this is what we're looking for, this is how long we spend evaluating your returned assignment) was so great. Just a robo "no". I mean, I can guess (my model accuracy score sucked, haha...), but it would have been nice to get e.g. the reviewer comments? Not to re-litigate, just to learn!
