      Entrevista

A sourcer reached out to me through LinkedIn. He was great, he scheduled the introduction call. During the call we talked about my experience, my expectations, culture at Dish, and their expectation of me. At the end of the call, he said he has a couple of positions suitable for me, and we agreed to move forward with the process. After the interview, he sent me some preliminary questionnaires for cultural and cognitive tests. I didn't apply for any specific position and sourcer didn't ask me to apply for anything specific. Two days later, I received a call from another recruiter. It was not a pre-scheduled call, she just called me in the middle of the day without any emails/messages. I was free at that time, so I received the call. She introduced herself and said she is calling on behalf of the previous Sourcer and I will be working with her on a particular role. She started the conversation by asking about my location and expected salary. Her question was "your expected salary was XXX amount, right?" I said no, and provided the correct expected salary. I also mentioned that I discussed this with the previous sourcer. She asked me how many years of Java experience do I have? I said 4-5 years. Her exact words " You have 4-5 years of experience in JAVA and earning XXX amount. Good luck!". As I mentioned earlier, I didn't apply for any position. I have been doing full-stack development for more than 10 years now. I have and I can program in multiple front-end and back-end programming languages but according to this particular recruiter I need to have more Java experience to earn a certain amount. Why? Did I apply for the senior java position? Nope! I was shocked by her ignorance and behavior. It was a weird and belittling call. I really enjoyed talking to the first recruiter. I was genuinely interested considering that experience. But the second recruiter definitely needs to learn few things about technical recruiting and professionalism.
