While I did not interview, I did submit my resume via email. I then reached out to one of their employees via handshake. She thanked me for reaching out and asked me if I would like to proceed with a writing test. I thought this was odd, having read reviews stating that they had a mini-interview and then took the writing test. Once I submitted my writing test, she stated that she would reach back out with the next steps. She never did. I was wary from the beginning of this process as they have an all-white staff in the diverse hub of D.C. I believe that they only sent me the writing test so that they could not be deemed discriminatory. However, I don't believe that I ever had a fair chance.

The writing test required writing a blog post about a made-up scenario.
Before being invited to interview for the associate position, I was asked to submit a writing test (sample blog). I was then interviewed by a team of leaders and lower level employees. It is my understanding that there is another round of interviews if you make it past the first one

A impolite experience with Crosscut. Had a phone interview, writing test, and then "in person" virtual interview. Didn't hear anything back. Asked a couple of times and got a "we don't know anything yet" response both times. No "here's our timeline" "if you don't hear from us by this date" "next couple weeks" or anything. It's been two months since the interview and never even got a rejection email. Incredibly unprofessional.
