Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to become an important part of a rapidly growing team. This Assistant Controller will be expected to perform a variety of general accounting functions along with leading the company's payroll processing along with assisting in accounts payable and fixed asset reporting. This position reports to the Controller and is responsible for applying general principles of accounting, reviewing and analyzing financial information, and preparing financial reports. An ideal candidate is responsive, thoughtful, self-directed, positive, and seeking a challenging role.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs all work according to firm’s methods, policies and procedures.
  • Prepares 1099 for vendors.
  • Maintain accurate records and financial data.
  • Prepare journal entries, balance and maintains accurate ledgers and reconciliations of cash and credit card accounts.
  • Pays vendor invoices and resolve any issues and concerns. Assist in the processing of accounts payable and review proper accounting treatment for all transactions.
  • Assist with budget preparation and monitoring.
  • Process payroll and ensures timely and accurate computation and payment of earnings for all employees.
  • Monitors and performs the daily cash deposits. Ensures payments are accurately and timely recording in the accounting software.
  • Performs period end closing, semi-monthly and monthly reports for management and pertinent functions.
  • Participate in special projects, team training, and development.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.

Minimum requirements:

  • College Education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of Accounting/Finance experience in the professional services field preferred.
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office “Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint,” Quickbooks.
  • Experience with ADP WorkforceNow, or any other integrated accounting software.

Other Skills / Abilities:

  • Experience with payroll processing and payroll tax filing.
  • Knowledge of the full accounting cycle and advance mathematical skill.
  • Well organized, proactive, must be able to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced quickly changing environment. Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to adhere to highest standards of confidentiality and discretion in all proprietary business, financial, and employee matters.
  • Excellent understanding of English, both written and verbal required. Ability to communicate in a professional, knowledgeable, and courteous manner with employees, clients, vendors, and business contacts.
  • Ability to adhere to a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain open, direct, positive, and objective lines of communication with management.
  • Personal integrity when working with personal and sensitive employee information and financial information.
  • Ability to be self-directed in a team-oriented environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Occasional non-local travel may be required no more than 5-10% of the year, depending on your client base.
  • Occasional lifting of boxes and/or paperwork up to 25 pounds.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $78,000.00 - $96,000.00 per year
