Being a huge company, there are hierarchical silos; and I also found that internal career movements are not that easy to make, and frequent layoffs and hiring freezes also hamper the ability fir internal move to quite an extent.

Very easy. Just want to know if you will show up to work. Ask if you will work overnight. Open about the position and what to expect. Very open about what they do and what the job requires. I only spoke to one person. There is an enormous amount of web forms and background checks. I was asked about my experience, although there was not any technical questions.
