Yes. I got invited to a followup skype interview with 2 members from a technical division related to my research Menos

There are 7 cities with a library in each. Everything got destroyed. We have to rebuild such that people at every city have access somehow to at least one library.

Question felt incomplete. I assumed that a road between 2 cities costs x and if you have to travel from city A to city B to finally get to city C then the cost is x + x = 2x. He said NO! I assumed that building a library costs y, he asked me why should I care about library cost! It was just a nightmare of a discussion but I somehow got him to let me code my solution after 20 mins Menos

1.1 Remove at most one character to make palindrome 1.2 Figure out a sorted alien alphabet from a sorted list of words 2.1 traverse linked list 2.2 print binary tree counterclockwise border nodes 3. Maze algorithm, find one path and find shortest path (but backtracking and searching all paths are allowed as long as output is shortest)

They gave hints and really try to help, but it's not them, it's me. Be more prepared for tech questions Menos

Can you describe what you do in your PhD research?

I explained about my PhD work. Quite a big part of it has to do with building a compiler that is one of the skillsets they need for this internship. Menos

Can you describe your FPGA experiences?

I have used Xilinx FPGAs for my master's thesis to control a device created in our research group, so I explained how I designed my system, my thought process, and the results we got at that time. Menos

The VP asked me: -Where are you from? -Why did you move to the U.S.? -Are all of your parents in the U.S. or are they still back home? -Would you go back home to work there in the future?

I answered these questions normally, even though I should have left the interview because the VP was very unprofessional with his questions. Menos

The VP also asked: -What part of you country are you from? -Were you back home when the last war happedned im your country? -How was the war?

I also answered these questiones normally, but I knew that I'm not going to join them. Thanks god I'm not working at this company with this kind of impolite behavior from a person with high level position at the company. The VP was the worst person I've met there. Menos

Such a direct question caught me a bit off guard. I responded by citing my success working on interdisciplinary teams and learning new fields quickly, which the interviewer acknowledged as desirable skills but also noted that I would not have been invited for the interview in the first place if they did not believe I possessed those skills. Menos
