So I saw online from the mall website that Bare Minerals was hiring. I have absolutely no background in cosmetics or makeup other than personal experience. I figured I might as well just try, I was desperate for a job for the summer, and I've always loved Bare Minerals. So I got a call the very next day asking for me to come into the interview. I did a few days later, had a nice conversation with one of the assistant managers (maybe keyholders?) and she asked some pretty basic questions. Took only about 30 minutes.
On the spot, she scheduled my second interview with the store manager. I have a lot of sales experience, especially one-on-one sales. She loved that. So she scheduled the interview for a few days later. I came in, talked with the manager, pretty similar. Nothing too crazy.
I got a call the next day to schedule the "make-under" audition. Not gonna lie, I was incredibly nervous for this. Like I said, I don't have cosmetic experience, and they were aware of that. So I did a little bit of research on their products online, nothing too crazy, but just a little bit. I brought in my friend, and they gave me a list of scenarios to choose from (bridal, stay-at-home mom going out on the town, smokey eye, etc.) so I chose a girl going in for an interview who wants a more professional look. I did a pretty simple look, and the girl who was watching said I did a good job at the end. Don't be afraid to ask questions! You don't work there yet so if you don't know where something is or how to take eyeshadow out of the pod (I accidentally dumped a bunch of it into a lid), just ask! They are super helpful and know you're not going to be perfect. Like I said, I was super nervous, so I probably didn't talk as much as I was supposed to during the audition but I think they understand the nerves.
So the very next day, I got a call and they offered me a job! So it took a little bit more than a week for the whole process. It was fairly easy, just the audition made me pretty nervous.
