The process was 4 stages. A recruiter screening, manager interview, mock intake meeting and a final with a director. Everyone I met was lovely and the process was quick as they emphasised urgency in hiring. That was great until it took 4 weeks to get an update on my application. After multiple follow ups, I was finally provided an update but no feedback after I requested it. What started really well in the end left a bitter taste.

The interview process at Whatnot has been the most frustrating experience I've ever encountered. I've been in this process for over a month now, and I had an initial interview with the recruiter three weeks ago. However, since then, there has been no communication or progress regarding the next steps. Despite following up with the recruiter multiple times, I have consistently received the same response: 'We are still waiting to hear back from the hiring manager and will provide an update as soon as we have one.' Unfortunately, there has been no update whatsoever. This has truly been the most disappointing candidate experience I've ever had. It's safe to say that they do not value your time.

The first interview with the recruiting manager went very well, very conversational and gave me a positive impression of Whatnot. After that, I completed a take-home assessment and went through five more rounds of interviews. Unfortunately, many of the conversations started to feel repetitive, and the overall process (six rounds plus a take-home) felt excessive for a recruiter position.
I was told there would be a feedback call after the final round, but it never happened, which was disappointing after investing so much time. Everyone I spoke with was kind, but the process could benefit from being more focused and respectful of candidates’ time.

The initial interview with Marcus Duerte was fine. He was pleasant and provided enough information in the introductory call. We agreed my background matched the role requirements, and I had all the relevant experience listed. He later sent a standard rejection email, which is fine, but since I was in an active job search, I reached out to ask where my experience might have fallen short or if he had any constructive feedback, which I very much would have valued. My email went unanswered.
I kindly followed up two more times, keeping the request brief, but still received no response, even though I could see each of my emails had been viewed. In a competitive job market, this type of lack of engagement reflects poorly on the candidate experience. While I do not place blame on Whatnot as a whole, this interaction was dismissive and unprofessional from a recruiting perspective.
