Me postulé en persona. El proceso tomó 5 días. Acudí a una entrevista en Trader Joe's (Richmond, VA) en oct 2013

      Entrevista

This was the most unprofessional experience I've ever had. After applying online, I called my local store in Richmond VA a couple weeks later to check on the status of my application. After speaking to a manager there, she told me that they rarely if ever see any applications from a third party site such as Indeed or Careerbuilder. Her advice was to print the application and bring it in with my resume to talk to a manager on the spot. I let her know that i was on my way out of town, but I'd be back Sunday and asked her if i could come by and see her then. She said that would be fine, and we set up a time of between 3:00-3:30. Flash forward to Sunday- I've left my parents' home early so that i could be back in time to meet *****. Once I arrived back in town, I again called her to check that our previous time was okay. She said it was. So, I dressed nicely, printed my application and resume, and set off to meet her. I arrived at 3:15. The store was busy, but not what I personally would say was out of control busy. ***** however, was running around like a chicken with her head cut off. I casually said "if this isn't a good time...", to which she said "i am SLAMMED. let me get someone else to talk to you". My first problem: why tell me to come TWICE at that time if you thought you might be busy? I've been in management for 14+ years, and I know the up and down times of my store. I know when NOT to schedule even a casual interview. But, i dismissed it and followed her to meet the other person who would have time to talk. However, as it turns out, he (the store manager) didn't have time either. He came out of the back, glanced at my application and resume, and said he was really busy, and wanted to reschedule. Fine. So we set up a time for a couple days later at 10AM. Flash forward to my interview day. I showed up at 9:45AM, and captain ***** was on the phone up front. I let the manager near him know who i was and that i was here for an interview, and he assured me that ***** would only be a minute or two. I said that was no problem, and I moved to a less busy area- the wine section- that was still within clear sight of the phone call and the management office. 10AM came and went, and still I stood in the wine section waiting. At 10:05, ***** got off the phone and walked to the back. At 10:10, nothing. At 10:15, nothing. At 10:20, I decided that today wasn't a good day either, so I left. It was there that for some reason i was STILL willing to give them another shot. But, as I drove out of the parking lot, who did I see 5 stores away standing on the sidewalk talking on his cell phone? The captain who was now :25 past my scheduled interview time. Unbelievable. It was at THIS point that I decided that while this company may be great, this STORE most definitely is not. There's no way I could work for someone who had such little disregard for another person's time, or another person's schedule. Even the slightest amount of professionalism was nowhere to be found from the point I originally called on Friday to the point I drove out of the parking lot the following Tuesday. Work for that store? No way. I promptly withdrew my application, and coincidentally found a better job with better pay a week later.

Who knows? I never got to this point. I certainly hope it wasn't a question about time management, though.

Me postulé a través de un reclutador. El proceso tomó 1 semana. Acudí a una entrevista en Trader Joe's (Los Angeles, CA) en jul 2016

      Entrevista

There is a six step process first is completing your application and cover letter. Keep in mind that TJ's get thousands of applicants applying every day so you better WOW them or else you wont get a email. For the second step giving them more detail about your job history. The third step, If your lucky you get phone interview with a recruiter from corporate. Plan on doing all the talking because the recruiter doesn't say much. This is a good time to pump up your job experience and WOW them with your abilities. I did just that because the next day I received and email saying that I have an face to face with a Store Captain, This interview was very light and conversational. In fact, I thought I nailed it!!!! I walked out of there feeling that I will definitely get to the next step with another Store Captain. With the years of leadership and Grocery experience this is a slam dunk. Well I guess I was wrong. about three hours after the interview I received a call from the recruiter saying that they are going to pursue other candidates. I was flabbergasted I couldn't believe what the recruiter was saying such BS!!!! well I thanked the recruiter for the opportunity and asked her for some feedback. She replied that she gets so many applicants that they are looking for more qualified candidates. What a complete wast of time and I cant believe they are passing me up with so much quality experience, I don't get it!!

Applied on-line. I did not get a response for 2.5 weeks. I was scheduled for a phone interview with their recruitor a week later. After the initial phone interview, I was contacted another week later to be scheduled for my first face to face interview at one of their stores, I met with the Store Manager/Captain. I really made a connection and thought the interview went really well especially when I was scheduled for a 2nd face to face interivew. After the first face to face interview, I was contacted another week later to be scheduled for a 2nd interview two weeks later with another Store Manager/Captain. During my 2nd interview, the Captain asked me the exact same questions as my 1st. I was very well prepared and was confident. Both Captains and I came away with a good feeling and great connection as to how I will be able to contribute to the company. After my 2nd face to face interiew, I was contacted a week later that they decided to go with another candidate. They did not provide any feedback. It was a very long process to go through to be passed on.

Applied online and dropped off a copy of resume and cover letter on the following day in person. Got hold of the Capain and had a brief chat with him. He seemed nice. One week later I find on their website that I haven't even been selected for an interview. I'm highly qualified with a bachelors degree, a lot of customer service experience from both retail and B2B and plenty of enthusiasm for this industry. I'm a little disappointed that I didn't even get a telephone interview. My hunch is I don't fit their profile. Being closer to 40 than to 20, with professional demeanor and experience, non hipster and European - no chance. I think they are looking for 20 something hipster type kids that are more formable.
