      Entrevista para Business Operations Representative

      3 de ago de 2019
      Candidato de entrevista anónimo
      Boston, MA
      Sin ofertas
      Experiencia positiva
      Entrevista fácil

      Solicitud

Me postulé a través de una recomendación de un empleado. El proceso tomó 3 semanas. Acudí a una entrevista en Toast Inc (Boston, MA) en jul 2019

      Entrevista

Long process - 1) Employee referral then contacted 2 days later by HR. 2) Phone Screen. 3) 30 minutes call with Manager. 3) On-site interview: 3 1-on-1 interviews, then interview with 3 people at the same time, then 1-on-1 with the Manager (your future boss - talked to her in step 3). 4) Case Study related to the position (2 days to submit it). Then 1 week to get a feedback/offer. The whole team was friendly and they make sure to make you confortable. Most of the questions are related to culture-fit and they know exactly the type of person they are looking for. Also, be ready to talk about 2-3 specific projects you worked on during your internships/previous jobs. This position was a brand new role (and it's more a client-facing role, not technical). Be ready to know what you will be doing on a daily basis if you get the position. No offer because the team thinks that I would be happier in a more technical position. At least, they took the time to give me feedback. It was one of the best interview process I've ever seen. Very professional and organized.

4 stages, all virtual. Traditional screening call, hiring manager, take home challenge, then department head. Everything was straight forward. Was asked multiple times by multiple interviewers if I thought I was overqualified for the role.

Very friendly people who asked a mix of relative questions and customs ones to make it interesting. Interview process was long (about 3 months long from beginning to end) and included a take home case study.

I applied for an entry-level role and went through six interviews and a case study over the span of two weeks, only to receive a generic rejection email. Unfortunately, the recruitment process left much to be desired. The initial recruiting screen was unprofessional—abrupt and rushed, making it difficult to ask any questions about the company. While the later call with the hiring manager was positive, things took a turn from there. I was asked to complete a case study and participate in a two-hour panel interview with multiple team members, all for an entry-level position. Despite receiving positive feedback throughout the process, including remarks about my qualifications, fit for the role, and a top score on the case study, there was no communication about next steps or timelines. I had to follow up twice to even get an update. After being strung along for two weeks, I received a generic rejection email with no feedback. For a company to demand this much time and effort from candidates for an entry-level position, only to respond with an impersonal rejection, is disappointing and unprofessional. In addition, I received no feedback from the hiring manager, and I would've likely been ghosted had I not reached out several times to the recruiter. It’s worth noting the compensation for the role was significantly lower than listed (and way lower than industry standard), and when asked, they refused to budge on their number. While the team members were generally great, the interview process and treatment of candidates is something the company seriously needs to improve. Six interviews and a case study for an entry-level role? That’s excessive, especially when the outcome is handled so dismissively. Candidates deserve better.

Thank you for taking the time to interview with Toast and for sharing this valuable feedback. When we include case study exercises in our interview processes, it is never meant to be overly time consuming for candidates. Instead, we hope it will provide a realistic glimpse into the role to help determine if it's the right match. Thank you for sharing your perspective on this exercise. I'm disappointed to hear you didn't receive the appropriate follow up from the team- I will be sure to pass this feedback along. Best of luck in your job search.
