Application: CV & 2 question app: why role, what are the implications of current regulations
Telephone interview: All the questions are on glassdoor all competency/motivational, what is ftse, what are biggest challenges for financial industry,
AC:
1. kenexa trading exercise- basically a kenexa numerical but questions are displayed on a bloomberg style video screen, like sky sports news really MC questions on the RHS that stay up for 40 sec. make sure you know which way the currency ex rates are on the two tickers- top one is into £ and bottom into dollar- i think?!?. You have to spot the conversion asap as the ticker takes ages to come round and you wont have enough time to work it out. revise numericals, you need to be doing questions in 35-40 seconds. time constraint is ridiculous.
2. SHL numerical paper style- standard
3. Group ex: its a sales pitch so sell. ours was to pitch icap fx products/services to potential clients. make sure you ask what kind of client they are- bank/institutional. I would say maybe use your phone to google what competitors are not offering ( she said phone use is allowed in the prep time). they give the annual report to find facts and figures to back up what you say/find product info, i would say do some research on how to structure a pitch and get across how they benefit from using icap not bgc/tradition.
3. Interview: standard questions: why uni course, why icap, why role, which area, know what product area you want to go in, say an area which is difficult to put on electronic platform and say that in this area brokers are more valuable- ie credit derivatives. also they will ask why not sales and trading- this is a tough question because most people apply to s&t roles at banks aswell. you need to back up your cv/experiences to why they are relevant and try to link answers back to the job/role- i didn't do this. if you dont have internship experience this will be hard. they will also ask where else you have applied, say a limited and related/relevant range of apps. try to focus your answers and stay formal even though they say its a chat. overall a difficult ac but thats expected, it was a good learning experience tbf.
