      Entrevista

I was very surprised a received a call for an interview, considering how many people apply to work for banks. I'm afraid to say the whole process was a lengthy mess. I originally went through a telephone interview, followed by a computer-based test. When this was done, I was invited for an interview at head office. The lady I was supposed to have my interview with was not there at all that day, which I found strange, but the person who ended up doing my interview was very pleasant. I was asked the usual questions about customer service experience, what I know of the company, and what my goals for the future are with the company. They gave me a map and told me to check off the general areas that I could work in. The interview went very well and he said he would reccomend me to the lady who was supposed to do my interview, and pass my interview on to her. This was where the nightmare started. Not only was she very rude, but we played phone tag for several months. She took frequent days off and vacations and it was very difficult to contact her. I had several different recruiters from their head office dealing with my file at this time and there was a lot of discontinuity and noone seemed to be able to advance my interview process. The next step was to get an interview at a branch, and the lady (who eventually came back) found me one that was incredibly far but I went anyways, didn't get the job. The person who actually did my interview was a sweetheart and stayed in touch with me even though I was not part of his files; he said that because TD is concerned about interviewer experience that once I have two branch interviews and I am declined both times then that's it; but at least he managed to stay in contact. I had originally applied in the summer, and went back to school for fall. It was a few months later now and I hadn't had any other opportunities made available to me, though I sent emails to let them know I am still interested. When I finally heard from the lady again, she said she found a position for me as a "supply" teller in essence, where I was on-call to replace sick employees at several branches. I asked her more about the expectations of the position, how often I would be expected to work, and she took my questions to mean that I'm not invested in the position since i'm questioning it. She said some things that were, in a nutshell, "if you don't do everything we want exactly as we want it, you can go look for another job because we have thousands of other applicants for your position." I asked her about accomodation for training, given that it's monday-friday one whole week, 8-4. Since I was in school now, I could not do that. She said the same thing, that if I want the job I have to skip school. I also told her at this time that my availability changed since I was back at school now. She scolded me for not notifying them of the change (I would not be available for 3 days out of 7 that they work). She said she had to determine if my availabiliy was acceptable, and she found that it was not, depsite the fact that I applied for part-time and that on their website they boast over how they accomodate students and are flexible with their hours. She continued with saying that she can't make that position available to me given that my availability is no longer good enough (although it was not much worse than my original one). She then asked me about doing interviews at some other branches, all of which were too far for me to go to regularly, as I had marked on the sheet during the interview. She finally told me that she is actually not even responsible for handling my workable zone, that that is the responsibility of an enterely different recruiter. this was ridiculous, then why was I paired with her? She told me that I had to start from scratch: go to the branches that I wanted to work with and drop off resumes with them, etc, and that I could say that I'm reccomended by their head office. That was the last time I talked to her, and another month later a received an email that basically said "thank you for applying with us and we hope you have a pleasant future." I had not even had a second interview, and they wasted months of my time only to part with an email, no explanation given. HORRIBLE experience. It's like they think they can treat their applicants however they want, since they have such a large pool of them...

      Entrevista

Pretty basic, simple process. Had a phone screening interview, and then was invited to a hiring event where I wasn’t interviewed by 2 managers: one customer service, and one branch manager! They were friendly and kind, and it was an easy and comforting atmosphere.

Phone interview with a recruiter, next an in person interview at the branch the recruiter sends your resume to. Lastly, meet with the branch manager, it is ultimately his decision if you're hired.
