I interviewed for the incubation team and the interview process was very smooth. I spoke with the hiring manager and various members of the team. They all asked very thoughtful questions and did a great job making sure I understood the role and requirements. Skye was wonderful, very bright and cheerful and spent a great amount of time answering all of my questions. Overall I had a fantastic candidate experience and really loved the team.

Interview process was fairly straight-forward. I enjoyed the people that I met and the length of my process. I felt like I was assessed fairly and always kept in the loop.

Very slow pace in the interview process. In the end, after two interview stages, impersonal rejection email sent with generic template feedback signed "Square Team" - not even an email from a person. The recruiter that contacted me and guided me through the process didn't even respond to my last email. Poor experience.

Pre screen, HM Screen, and 4.5 hour interview with 7 people. Each person asked the same question, "Describe the interview process you follow." At the end of the interview I'm told that I will hear back in a couple days. I don't hear back at all. No feedback. I get a call several weeks later saying I was let down because the team wasn't convinced with the "interview process" I follow. Interesting - the process I follow, is not MY process, it's my organization's process. And when someone new joins a company, they learn the new processes that companies follow. The second reason was they wanted to see more "strategy" around D&I. Truly? I provided solid examples of all the D&I initiatives I've taken expressing my passion and interest to do more in this area. And this was a reason to reject a candidate? How about your D&I strategy when 90% people on your interview panel are white men and women. None of these reasons are indicative of a candidate's capability and potential to go above and beyond to perform, or their willingness to learn new things. You're looking for a recruiter and your candidate experience sucks. If you want to bring in a strategy expert in this role at this level, better bet is to hire a consultant with 20+ years of experience, or someone who no longer has a desire to learn anything new since your team does not hire for potential or creativity or passion or the ability to build relationships. In hindsight, I'm glad this didn't work out, I'd hate to be the person who would have to follow "your process" of not reaching back out to candidates and leave them hanging, showing zero respect for their time after asking them to spend 4.5 hours chatting with a bunch of people who asked the same question 7 times over.

Very bad experience. I received a generic rejection email, and then an apology email for receiving a generic rejection suggesting that is not how they want people's experience to be, and want to provide a good candidate experience. Unfortunately, this bulk email was as much as they were willing to do to avoid causing a bad experience. The email said the one position was filled, but to please check the web site because they are hiring technical recruiters and would like to chat. Interview opportunities being scarce during Covid, and reviewing the positions and seeing I was more than qualified for several positions, I was excited. I replied that I was confident I fit all the listed roles and would love to interview for whichever role she thought was the best fit. I'm worried about being able to stay in the area with my family, and started studying and preparing for the interview to do well. However, the level of attention to detail and willingness to respond was absolutely horrible. For one, the email was a no-respond email, meaning I had to use LinkedIn Inmails to reply. These are scarce and I got no response to multiple messages. Then I had to call a friend to get the personal email, and replied. This took a lot of work and could have been avoided if they'd simply included the email and phone number in the email stating they'd "love to chat" and "were hiring for technical recruiters", job descriptions I have multiples of the experience for and have every qualification. I got a generic response that the resume was forwarded to the recruiters who would set up an interview with me if they felt it was a fit, as if I were a first time applicant and hadn't gone to all that trouble. Then, nothing. By the way, I was overqualified for each of the positions listed and have more experience than most of the recruiters there, but they apparently reviewed it, after an apology email, and never reached out. Even in the follow up, which it took great effort to receive, there was no email or phone number. They are very impersonal and I have no idea why they went out of their way to apologize if they have no intention to change the way they do things or spend any time on the phone. I would have just forgotten about it, and only spent so much time preparing because they sent an apology email offering to talk and encouraging me to apply because they were hiring for other roles, but in reviewing past interviews, many aren't satisfied with the candidate experience. This was a very bad and frustrating experience. I spent a lot of time preparing because the email was apologetic and implied clearly they wanted to talk to me if I fit one of the remaining positions, and I had more than double all the requirements, so they clearly don't back up what they promise. They didn't review my resume for qualifications, at least not honestly, after implying the interview was guaranteed, saying they'd love to chat after I reviewed that.
- I received an apology for a generic response and offer to interview and request to say which positions I fit, and I was more than qualified for each of them with great references and recommendations, then had to go to great lengths to get another response, also from a no-reply email with no phone number, and then got no response at all. Basically, they did worse after apologizing than before and showed no concern with candidate experience.

Two phone interviews prior to being invited onsite. It took about two months prior to being invited onsite, maybe due to the holiday season; either way, interview process took a bit long. Onsite interview lasted about 5 hours, back to back interviews, met with six people. Fast lunch in between. Strange to find that most folks that interviewed me were not note taking or anything, but simply asking questions (most which were all the same but reworded); this essentially told me that it was really about the vibe and if the person liked you or not vs if you’re qualified and are able to do the job...

Since I was a referral the interview didn't include a typical phone screen first, but that aside the interview process was great! Over the past month, I've been on 5 different onsite interviews and I can easily say that my experience with Square's onsite interview was the best (Google comes as a close 2nd). You'll get an email from the Recruiting Coordinator with detailed instructions on how to get to the office and what things to expect in terms of getting into the building. I highly recommend following these instructions especially the part asking you to arrive early as you do need to check in with security in the building lobby which can take some time if there a lot of people coming in (don't forget your ID). The email from the coordinator also included the names and of everyone that I'll be meeting and when. Once onsite you'll get tour of their really nice office by your coordinator and after that they'll take you to your interview room. One of the top reasons why I felt this interview experience was a great one was that no one on the panel asked me the same question. Everyone had a different topic that they wanted to discuss with me which I really appreciated as a candidate. Outside of Google, every other interview that I went on had the interviewers asking me the same questions over and over again which honestly gets tiring. I also appreciated how the questions were a mixture of hypothetical, situational, and behavior type of questions. I really felt that I was able to provide a holistic view of myself through the questions they asked. Another thing that I really appreciated as a recruiter was that that the interviewers didn't waste time going through their own backgrounds. Any good candidate should have already done their homework and looked up the panel's Linkedin profiles. At the end of your interview you'll have a brief wrap up with your recruiter at which point they'll let you know when they'll be getting back to you. I highly value people who can hold true to their commitments and I held off on writing this review to see my recruiter would follow through. I was not disappointed as my recruiter followed up in exactly the time frame she'd set with me. Overall A+ experience!

Came in for coffee with a team member initially, then a full onsite panel. Everyone was friendly and communicative and seemed happy to be at work. I had my offer within one week.
