The entire interview process took about 3 weeks. First there was a writing sample they ask for which is very easy. The next step was a phone mock call. I was pretty nervous because I wasn’t sure how the role playing would go but the rep was super friendly and fed me the info before hand & I just navigated through the call showing my customer service skills. It wasn’t really about getting the info right but more so how can u resolve an issue effectively. The last step was in on site interview that lasted about an hour. I met w/ 2 hiring “team leads” for 30min each. The first hiring manager was pretty laid back & did ask basic interview questions but it was more conversational. The 2nd was a little more direct (reading through a list of questions) and his questions were longer/more complex. Overall my experience was great everyone was superb friendly & the office is so awesome!

I quickly received a response to my application and followed up with a simple writing sample. I had a phone interview a couple of days later that included a mock phone call, followed by an in person interview about a week later. The in person interview was at the same time as several other interviews. I interviewed with two managers that asked standard interview questions. I thought it went well with the first manager but couldn't get a read from the second. I received a rejection email about a week after the interview but was not given any feedback.

First I was asked to provide a writing sample on how to scramble eggs. Second, I was invited to a phone screen that was a mock customer service call. Next, I was invited to an in person interview with a several Customer Service Leads. I was greeted warmly by the reception desk and by the recruiter. I was then lead to a small room where I was provided with a repulsive cup of coffee and introduced to a team of Customer Service Leads. I could have overlooked the disgusting coffee due to the fact that the majority of the Customer Service Leads were nice enough. However, one of the Customer Service Leads presented himself with very arrogant demeanor. This individual intentionally attempted to "rattle" me by saying things such as, "Why would you switch roles and what exactly was the reason and the root of it?" and "Can you just answer the question?" "Can't you just provide a specific example?" He stated this after I had already given him an answer to his question. I even noticed that the other team lead in the room, was "side eyeing" this individual with disgust and disbelief. I completely understand that in a role such as Customer Support Representative that a hiring manager might intentionally try to get a feel for how one reacts when a negative exchange occurs. If this was this individuals intention, he did not provide an explanation as to why he acted in such a distasteful and arrogant manner. I also noticed that the team leads did not smile. Finally, as this company is fully aware of in today's age of information and online reviews, it is important to treat people including employees or potential employees with courtesy and respect. This is a time where individuals can express their experiences in a very public forum. If the intent was to see my reaction and how I handled stress, there should have been an explanation. I was more than disappointed with my experience with Square.

The Interviewer called late. He had a negative attitude about him from the get go. I tried being friendly and making one or two jokes only to hear silence on the other end of the phone. He seemed really weird and asked me ''do you have any questions??'' tell me what your other questions are??'' He literally two minutes into the call .. he hadn't told me anything about the role yet. he asked things in such an intense interrogative way that made me feel exhausted after the call. It wasn't a casual friendly chat. It was odd the whole thing. He had no interview skills at all. It's hard to believe he has recruited for several of the other Square offices...It sounded like SUCH an unappealing place to work. He didn't sell the role AT ALL. It's a two way street and they shouldn't act as though you need to sell yourself but they tell you nothing about the place and what it's like to work there. There seemed to be no career progression by the sounds of things, working in an office with hardly any possible for the foreseeable future. No thanks. I was excited about the interview initially but it ended up not being an enjoyable experience and was a waste of my time. Good luck to whoever gets that role, it does not sound like a good place to work.

The first step is to write step by step instructions on how to scramble eggs. After that I was scheduled to speak to an HR representative and have a "mock call". It was extremely unprofessional and difficult to understand what they wanted. The call lasted about ten minutes and then when I tried to ask questions was told, that will be for the follow up interview. There is definitely room for development with their process and professionalism but I think that it seems like a fun place to work! Just needs some improvements with it's hiring process

  • Mock Call where they ask you to help a customer on how to fix the products. Keep in mind, you have no idea how to fix them because you obviously haven't been trained and they try to act rude so that you understand the job is to be yelled at all day?

First step: writing sample Second step: mock call where you are the rep and they are the customer. I thought it was really good, rep was very nice, patient, easy to understand. Third step: in person interview. Speak with 4 different managers separately, each asks about 4 questions and then you can ask questions. I liked their interview process because it was different then the typical phone screen and then face to face. You get a chance to show your writing and phone skills before meeting face to face.

Interview was with four different Square leads and managers, it was an hour long process, but very interesting and fast pace. I was told that I would be notified within a week to see where we will go from there.

I was contacted via my LinkedIn profile with very brief details about Square. Nothing about the position requirements, salary, exact location of the office... Basically the same description of Square given on this page. I showed my appreciation and asked for a few more details about the position. Not even the salary or working hours... They never came back to me. This showed me this company doesn't want to be questioned. As a note, if you contact someone because you saw their profile or CV beforehand, you should at least tell them what the job requirements are.

The interview process took about six and a half weeks from applying to getting an in-person interview. First they had me do a writing sample, then a mock phone call, and finally an in-person interview. I thought that the interview went extremely well, and I was very confident after leaving the interview. I asked each of the managers if they had any concerns about me or my qualifications and none of them did, and it seemed like they were impressed with resume and answers. So when I was sent an email about a week later letting me know that after looking at my resume and getting the feedback from the managers that I was not choses for the position, I was a little surprised. I sent an email back asking for the feedback, because I was/still am very interested in joining the Square team and I want to know what I need to improve on. I still haven't received any feedback, which I also find a bit odd.
