I had 3 back to back interviews with two managers and tentative co-worker. The managers seemed to be more upbeat, but the AE co-worker was notably tired and unamused. The culture is mainly seen to be based on high levels of commitment to work. The goals seemed pretty high too, and they were calculated pretty oddly. Order size was based on projected revenue of business annually,

I had my call screen, which went well. At the end of that call, I was advised by the recruiter that I'd hear from her regarding next steps soon. I got an email the next morning that I'd been selected to move to the next phase, which was to be a 30 minute call with hiring manager. I was supposed to respond with a few dates and times that I'd be available to meet with the hiring manager. Before I could respond, I got another email stating that I would be jumping further in the process - straight to the panel interview, which would be the final phase of the process. I was told to offer dates and times that I'd be available. The panel was a two-and-a-half hour process that would include four interviewers on a video call. Based on that, I was strategic about the availability I offered because I was to be out of town for a few days, and didn't want to have a gauntlet of a panel interview the day after traveling across time zones. I requested Thursday before my trip or Tuesday after the trip, but they scheduled me for Monday in the middle of the day. Despite the scheduling challenges, I made it work, and performed well enough to earn an offer. At the end of the panel, I asked for feedback as well as when I could expect their decision - I was told 24-48 hours. It actually took two weeks to get a final decision, and there was very little communication during the waiting game. The reasons given for why I wasn't chosen were flimsy; I had never used their CRM platform, for example. Considering Square hires college kids, not having used Salesforce was a ridiculous reason.

Screen call with recruiter was quick and easy. Recruiter knew my background and qualifications from my application and resume and moved me on to the interview process which consisted of a 4 person panel and presentation. Total 3 hours. Long but everyone was so nice and casual.

Instead of talking to a human being, I recorded 5 short video answers through a website. They give ~60 seconds to read the question, then 60-90 seconds to answer it and if time runs out the video stops recording. Short and impersonal.

Please, don't apply if you are over 30!!!! I did a series of interviews through a 5 hour process in house. The most tenured person was 3 years into their CAREER....Yes Career...and that included the sales manager. I have 10+ years sales experience. The entire place is young kids right out of school. It was apparent I would not get on offer right after the interviews. If you are young it seems like a great place to work. However, if you are a tenured sales person than my advice is to move on. You are not what they are looking for.

I was first asked to submit a recording of myself answering three questions they sent. Then I was interviewed over the phone by my potential manager. My in person interview was conducted by my potential manager, a manager of another team, and someone in the position I was applying for. There was a mock sales pitch where I was asked to sell Square, there was a lot of emphasis placed on experience and on office atmosphere/culture. They wanted to make sure I would positively contribute to the atmosphere. I was called back for another interview, I ate lunch with about 4 other members of my team. It was a very casual, the goal was for the team to have a lot of input on my hiring.

Phone screens with two separate recruiters then phone interviews with two separate hiring managers. Was flown out to San Francisco three weeks later for an on-site interview which involved a role play sales presentation given to two hiring managers, followed by three separate interviews with other managers. Overall I interviewed with seven different people, so they were very thorough. Entire process took over a month, and I was informed a week later that I did not get the job. By the time I interviewed I did not especially want the position, and interestingly my acupuncturist told me during a session before the interview that he'd just replaced them with Amazon, and that his colleagues were doing so. This is something that I've seen and heard of more and more in my city. The people there seemed cool, though the manager whom I was to work for was cold, impersonal, made no effort to build rapport and seemed like a very corporate number-cruncher more interested in picking holes in my credentials, and I didn't think I would have liked working for him and probably showed it. Square is definitely not a start-up, and seems like it's going a very corporate route.
