Entrevista

Straight forward interview experience. Recruiter and hiring manager were very communicative and clear about what to expect in each round. I am very impressed especially by how much each helped prepare me for each round of the interview. By far, the best experience and guidance I have had compared to any other interview experience. 1. Call with recruiter. 2. Call with hiring manager. 3. Take home assignment and present to panel of stakeholders. 4. Final round with 1:1's with each stakeholder.

Entrevista

Pros: - A recruiter got back to me within a couple days of submitting my application, and was able to setup a initial phone call very quickly after that. I appreciate the timely responses. Cons: - The recruiter was informal/casual to the point where it seemed inappropriate. Not a huge deal though. - While talking about compensation, the possible range of what you could be offered seemed all over the place. It seemed like the recruiter didn't really know. - Advertised compensation seemed low in comparison to the competition. - Recruiter did a bad job hyping up the job. Instead, he admitted that the company had suffered from COVID but 'looks' like it is getting better. This was expected, but was told in a negative way. If you aren't excited about the opportunity after talking to a recruiter, you know it's not the right gig. (In fact, I had another call setup with another company shortly after, it the recruiter was amazing! It really makes a huge difference) ----- The next step after the initial phone call is a take-home project. They advertise it as taking only a couple hours, but it really depends on how nice you want it to be. If you are a somewhat competent iOS engineer already, it should not be challenging at all, but it may take more time than advertised. I got an automated rejection email shortly after submitting the project. I didn't put 100% into the project I admit, but given the initial experience, I didn't feel like it was worth it. And, I have a feeling I was rejected before they even looked at it, since my past interview projects have gotten very positive feedback. ---- Final words: If you are a recent-grad looking for a first job, OpenTable seems like a decent place to be for a little bit. However, if you are looking for a step up in your career and in compensation, I'd pick another company.

Rounds as follows: 1) Algorithm round - Had a online coding round, which was taken by a developer with no much interest in the solution I was giving, and rather interested in checking I could solve it his way. Had 2 questions, both of which was solved. After a follow up, got a reply from HR (Australia based) saying I was not selected. Wondering why, I thought of asking for a reason, and I got a reply saying that my profile has now been shortlisted! Well funny though it sounded to me, I didn't mind it since I give it the benefit of doubt, that maybe it was a honest mistake while the reviews were passed on. 2) Core technical round - Had 2 panelists - senior developer and a tech lead. Good questions and it was nice discussing project and technical aspects. Was also asked to design a system and send it to them by EOD. Finally was told that there would be one more round. HR intimated me about the next round in 2 days 3) Technical round - Was asked to design a application (coffee vending machine) with constraints, in 1 hour. With an additional 10 mins to 1 hour, i was able to write a working application. End of my process. Now on following up, I got a reply with the second round feedback, with a rejection! Well, things definitely don't look synchronized between the teams. Though the HR was helpful (HR's apart from Indian companies normally are helpful), the whole process did not seem to be coherent.

Entrevista

* phone screen * interview with hiring manager * virtual interview day ** 2x presentations (one task and one case study) Very frustrating experience overall. Had a reasonable screen and first interview. Asked to submit some availability for another interview - I submitted availability expecting another hour or so with another team member. On Thursday PM I received 8 hours of interviews for Monday & Tuesday, including a task and a case study. I didn't receive case study brief or task details until later on Thursday my time (Fri morning) so I had to prepare all of this over the weekend. Had the presentation interview and the (total) 8 hours of interviews. Some were good, some were ok. I asked on the final interview if there was any red flags for me and the role and was told no and 'no doubts' for me and the role. Then nothing.... weeks of silence. I chased a couple of times and was told they were still interviewing. After 4 weeks I chased for a final time (even though I knew that it wasn't going to be a positive result) and was told that they would not be offering and they were still interviewing. Incredibly frustrating to put in 20+ hours of time and effort into short notice interviews to be ignored for 4 weeks and only rejected after numerous chasing emails. I really wish that companies that ask for so much input from candidates consider the mental impact of not responding as it's extremely disruptive, frustrating, and upsetting. It's fine to be rejected - it's not fine to ignore candidates that you ask so much from.

Very bland. It was difficult to engage conversation with the interviewer. I could not put a pin on what they were even looking for in a candidate. Like I said though: bland.

Entrevista

First was a phone screen that was pretty simple and straightforward. I then had a Zoom interview with the hiring manager. My Zoom interview with the hiring manager would've been fine, but she stopped me in the middle of the interview to write an email, which I thought was rude. She then asked me a lot of questions that had nothing to do with my experience, leading me to believe she didn't bother to read my resume. She spoke really fast and didn't seem to actually want to listen, just talk.

Had several interviews with the team over the course of a few months - all were very friendly and helpful. Seems pretty chaotic over there, and no one could really define what the job would be. I "noped" out of the process entirely.

Multiple round interview. You meet with different members of the leadership team. The first rounds are very high level and as you progress through the interviews, the questions become more specific and situational.

Initial phone screen from the recruiter, then 2-3 more rounds with the hiring manager and the rest of the team. All behavioral. The recruiter seemed disinterested throughout the entire call. Wasn't warm or welcoming at all. Didn't try to sell me the job. Didn't even really ask me any questions that would dig into my background. The only question I was asked was "Tell me about your time at your last role". That was it. Didn't dig into it or ask to elaborate. I was waiting for more questions but they never came. Not even sure why they scheduled this call if they weren't keen on learning more? Seems like a complete waste of every one's time. There was plenty of awkward silence and I tried to drive the conversation as much as I could without overwhelming them with a one sided deluge of my past. At the end I was given some time to ask questions. They spent maybe 5 minutes asking about me and the remainder of the time was me asking her questions. At the end I even tried turning the conversation around by letting them ask questions again. I specifically made it a point to ask as my last question, "I've spent alot of time prodding you with questions, is there anything else you'd like to ask or I could clarify while we are on the phone?". They said no, they had asked everything they needed to, which was one question. Overall a really terrible experience. Probably one of the worst recruiters I had spoken to. They were apparently the recruiting manager there and had at one time been a technical recruiter. One of my questions was "How technical do you expect this person to be in this role? Will they be working closely with Product?" and their answer was "Well, you don't really need to be that technical. You need to know Powerpoint and Excel". What??? That's not at all what I was asking. Sums up the call. Don't even think they were listening.

It was a screening call from a hiring manager. Just asked expected questions, but did not feel like very conversational. After that, some general process related explanations and let me ask questions.
