I was recruited and encouraged to apply via a NYT recruiter who cold messaged me on LinkedIn. I am happy in my current role but decided to learn more and hear about this new role, especially as a fan of the NYT. I was paired with a different recruiter who was new to the company but very friendly and thorough. I had an initial call with the hiring manager who was nice albeit seemed a bit overwhelmed and trying to hire a whole team from scratch. I then worked with a scheduling coordinator to have 5-6 Zoom interviews with various team members and partners. One person didn't show up to one of the interviews but overall it was a pretty smooth process. Questions were pretty straightforward, honestly a bit repetitive even though different interviews were supposed to have different areas of focus (i.e. technical acumen, leadership, etc.). Everyone seemed nice but again, a bit overwhelmed. I had the last interview with the hiring manager and everything seemed good. The recruiter had kept me very informed every step of the way, asking about my timeline and setting up brief 5 minute check ins, which I really appreciated. Then suddenly, radio silence. Nothing from the recruiter, hiring manager, etc. I sent two follow up emails to the recruiter to ask about next steps and heard nothing. I don't mind not being offered the role, but I do find it disrespectful to have someone spend in total, 8+ hours in interviews and not even let them know either way. It made me wonder if I had done something horribly wrong until I heard from a friend that he went through the same thing in a different department and saw the posts here. Just not a great look.

Phone screening - recruiter rescheduled the first call and never showed up.. then rescheduled again and he was late - the call was less than 5 minutes and super unpleasant

Very laid back and friendly! I was interviewed by 2 senior product designers and both of them were very knowledgeable and open to questions. It was a typical design portfolio review, I had a great time speaking with them!

The interview process was quite long for NYtimes. It started with a phone screen where although I applied for the data scientist position, they swapped me into the senior data analyst role. There was an initial phone screening with the recruiter, followed by a panel interview with 4 individuals from different analyst teams. After passing those two interviews, there was a 3rd one with about 7 people to further evaluate my compatibility with them. overall the whole process was about a month and I had already had offers from else where that made me less enthusiastic during the final interview.

Took a long time to set up an interview. Interview process was fairly standard. I enjoyed talking to everyone I interviewed with. Overall not difficult. I never heard back either way though, so I’m not sure what went wrong. It was disappointing to not hear anything at all.

It was disorganized. They kept getting me confused with other applicants and even put wrong applicants through. tried to tell me I said things when I did not (salary requirements, etc.) Tried to make me feel like I was wrong when really the system was just disorganized.

Had a great communication experience with the HR contact who coordinated all interviews. Very kind and responsive. Made it to 4th round and did not receive offer. Technical part of interview was similar to questions listed on Glassdoor.

5 Months long, very thorough. Ultimately ended because of internal issues which left me 5 months into a process that went no where. Still grateful to have spoken to several interesting people and remain in contact with some.

Solid process. Basically had to discuss systems and then do a code review. The code review was 100 lines of code and I had 30 minutes to complete it. Solid behavior questions, very chill process.
