The internship interview process at NASA typically involves several stages designed to assess candidates' skills, knowledge, and suitability for the internship position. While specific details may vary depending on the program and position, here's a general overview of what the process might look like: 1. **Application Submission**: Prospective interns usually start by submitting an online application through NASA's internship portal or website. This application typically includes a resume, cover letter, academic transcripts, and possibly letters of recommendation. 2. **Initial Screening**: After the application deadline, NASA's recruitment team reviews the submitted applications to shortlist candidates who meet the basic qualifications and requirements for the internship program. 3. **Phone or Video Interview**: Shortlisted candidates may be invited to participate in a phone or video interview. During this interview, they may be asked about their academic background, relevant experiences, technical skills, and interest in space exploration or related fields. The interviewer(s) may also assess the candidate's communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and compatibility with NASA's culture. 4. **Technical Assessment (if applicable)**: Depending on the nature of the internship and the candidate's field of study, there may be a technical assessment or skills test to evaluate the candidate's proficiency in specific areas such as programming, engineering, or scientific research. 5. **Behavioral Interview**: Candidates who pass the initial screening and technical assessment stages may be invited for an in-person or virtual behavioral interview. This interview focuses on assessing the candidate's behavioral competencies, such as teamwork, leadership, adaptability, and professionalism. The interviewer(s) may ask situational or scenario-based questions to gauge how the candidate might respond to various challenges or situations encountered during the internship. 6. **Final Selection**: After completing the interview process, NASA's hiring team evaluates the candidates based on their performance during the interviews, as well as their qualifications and fit for the internship position. The top candidates are then selected for the internship program. 7. **Offer and Onboarding**: Successful candidates receive offers to join the internship program and are provided with information about the onboarding process, including paperwork, orientation sessions, and any other necessary arrangements. Overall, the internship interview process at NASA is rigorous but designed to identify talented and motivated individuals who have the potential to contribute meaningfully to NASA's mission and goals.

Just behavioral questions that went into my resume experience and what I would do in specific situations. At the end they asked if I had any questions. Very easy going discussion and mostly a vibe check.

The interview process was very straightforward. There weren't any trick questions or anything. Would recommend having the basic interview questions down such as tell me about yourself, why NASA, why this internship, and then know your resume.

They asked me how I approach teamwork and what I would do if I disagreed with a teammate/supervisor.

It was a quick and to the point interview, I would say that one of the most important things would be to try to recall on prior experiences, both negative and postive, on where you worked on a team, or had a problem you had to overcome as I tend to forget them in the spot for a couple of seconds but just come prepared with those situations in mind and you will do great.
