I first applied on snagajob.com. Got a call about several days later to come in for a group interview. I dressed sharp, or business casual for women. Make sure you arrive at least 10 minutes early so you can find a spot and be able to mingle with the other interviewees. I think by showing that I was able to be communicative, outgoing, and sociable it added a good first impression. At first we were led into a waiting room, then into a private room made for I guess group meetings.
It was not the most professional group meeting. They began with discussing what Kohl's represented, what available positions there were, and that it was only part-time. For cashier, they clearly stated there was favoritism; basically those that can sell their Kohl's card tended to get more hours. Fair enough.
Then the interview process began, there were about 12 of us. They asked us very basic situational questions; usually about your past job experiences. What is your favorite thing about your past job? Least? Name a time you went above and beyond. Name a time you had a conflict with a coworker, how did you deal with it? Things along the lines of that. It was very relaxed and easy, especially if you have practiced these interview questions.
Afterwards, we were allowed to ask questions. It's difficult to, since they already explained what to expect, but be creative and act like you're really interested but not desperate. Anyways, then there was paperwork that required references, a short questionnaires, and a small background check.
I had the interview on a Thursday, and got a call back on Tuesday to come in for a group orientation!
