      Entrevista

Three rounds of interviews. First round was a phone call with their HR Rep. Second round was an in-person with two associates where they tried to subtly make clear that position would be a lot of grunt work. They didn't make clear in the job descrip that getting lunch for other people and cleaning dirty walls would be daily tasks. They definitely tried to sell the job with the perks of food trucks for lunch and monthly staff dinners. Only bummer was that the Studio Assts are in charge of serving everyone else at the staff dinner--not the good end of the stick on that one. It seems like Studio Assts are on the lowest rung of the company. Third round was with the owner, John Mc Neil's executive assistant. Third round didn't seem like an interview so much as a cautionary schpiel about how picky and critical the owner John McNeil can be. The whole interview I felt like I was being told that I would hate the job for the grunt work but that the owner was amazing so it would all be worth it. I saw the owner in the office space and he struts around the office with two big german shepherds. Interviewer gave examples of previous studio assistants that flourished and moved up to other positions in the company, and some assistants that couldn't fit in and moved on to other places. It's not a good move to put down previous employees in an interview, even if they weren't a good fit, it definitely made the company values come across as flighty, vain, and judgmental. After weeks of interviews and follow-up emails, and even checking my references, they told me they were choosing not to hire for the position and that I would not be offered a job but that they would keep me in mind for future opportunities. Save your time and sanity and don't apply here. It seems like a company that works to stroke the owner's ego, rather than benefit employees and provide opportunities for lower level workers.

Brief Phone Screen In person interview a week later Never heard back about moving forward which was a bummer because I really felt like the interview went well. Maybe it was because I was still new to the area and they were afraid I wouldn't be committed? I'm not sure. Definitely would have been a great job to have straight after college.

I arrived 10 minutes early. The staff had me wait in the kitchen area. I filled out a paper application and waited for the interviewer to come get me. The staff seemed friendly. Seven to 10 minutes later the interviewer took me a private room and asked me about 5 to 6 questions.
