1st Interview was done by phone screen by company HR manager. 3-4 Weeks later another phone interview was done by the hiring manger, at that time was ask to have 1:1 interview about 2 weeks later. Interview was informal, very informal. 2 weeks later interview at corporate office for a series of interviews with senior management. 2 weeks later offered the job, fly to on-board training at this time notified about all travel is paid up front then paid back after expense report is sent to Accounts Payable.
No where in the hiring process did anyone mention paying for travel out of pocket first. Question was, "Can you travel"? Not can you pay for your travel up front.
