apply online one of two ways, either through sucess factors for engineer and experienced technicians jobs or through their half ass technician portal. where you can only apply to one job in six months. WTF and why? Also makes you take a fit test, basic psych test to see if your a dick at work or late and call in and how to treat people. as if anyone answers them honestly. have had several interviews there. parking lots is huge and hard to find spot, its like going to mall on a holiday. first two interviews HR did not tell me what I was interviewing for and the hiring managers must of had lots of problems with HR and their lack of communication. most interviews were easy and just asked about experience and basic nonsense. they do not follow up with you at all, especially a place that needed 2000 workers and counting. very bland small rooms to interview with no food or drink. interview is usually with section manager and then a few shift supervisors/ managers engineers. lots of dorks and asians galore. one real big kick in the nuts is lots of engineer and tech jobs require you as part of job offer and job description to accept and work any shift. shifts are 12hrs rotation 3 on 4 off. they will not tell you, except for first two job interviews I had, what shift you will be assigned to until the day you start orientation. I asssume is about 3 weeks away from offer bc that is when they tell you to start. pretty fucked up situation. im guessing they had hard time filling night shift and have also heard of people getting moved to different shifts depening on company need. guess people are desperate and have no life. as for pay i have friends who are AAS degree in EET or semiconductor and started at 16 to 17. I got offered at 27 bc of BS degree and related work experience. friends have complained it is hard to move up and very slow process, many have gone back for BS degree. I was expecting to see inside of fab and maybe a brief intro into what the job was like. preinterview requires a skills/iq test on a computer, called SAM. then a car building exercise if invited for interview. engineer jobs management jobs require powerpoint presentation. GF is in the middle of a forest but still close to major highways. the saratoga/malta/clifton park area is very expensive as it is one of the only nice places left in upstate ny, especially in the capital region which employs thousands of state workers. housing is a rip off, about 300k to 400k for a new 2000sqft house. older homes at 250k to 200k. property tax at 5k to 9k total a year. overall I would be very cautious about working here and especially relocating here from texas. have heard complaints of lots of management but no teamwork and turnover when it first opened up. salary is ok, engineers will make money anywhere and any profession so this place does not overpay everyone except for HR!! haha. california is use to similar taxes and high cost of living.
