      Entrevista para Technical Support Engineer

      Entrevista

I applied online and received an invite for a phone screen within a day. The phone screen was rough, but not in the way you'd guess for an engineering role. The recruiter was cold and made it obvious that I was wasting his time. I thought maybe he is testing me to see if I can stay calm on a bad call as this role is client facing, so I remained professional despite this negative vibe. He asked why I wanted to work at Duo, so I gave him a few macro reasons to begin with. During this answer he interrupted me and asked me to be more specific. I responded with the specifics of my technical skills, but followed with a question of my own. The job description did not mention specific languages used at Duo, it only mentioned Web Protocols, DNS, and a few other broad topics. So I asked if he could fill me in on the languages they use. He responded "I'm not a technical recruiter so I wouldn't know that." Hmm... so why did you just condescendingly ask me to be more specific? The call continued with dead space and monotone voice from the recruiter. He seemed more concerned with letting me know I'm wasting his time than he did with getting to know a bit about me. I ended up discussing my skills and interests to fill the silence. After a few minutes of me talking and him saying nothing, the recruiter said we were running out of time (the total call time was about ten minutes). Surprisingly, he told me they would be moving forward with my application and I should expect a technical assignment in 48 hours. He said if I didn't receive the assessment, to send him a reminder. Two days pass, no assessment. So I sent the first reminder. No response from the recruiter. A week passes, I send another follow up. Instantly after this follow up, I get a notification from a generic Duo email saying I will not be moving forward in the process. The recruiter never had the courtesy to respond to any of my emails after he specifically told me to follow up with him if he forgot to send me the assessment. I have had some rough interview experiences before, but this one takes the cake.

Interview process was okay. However, the initial response time after application was long. I had forgotten applied to this role. The process was systematic as it is managed through Cisco recruiting.

Was given a brief call and answered some basic CS questions. Was told I was a excellent candidate and given a take home assignment similar to ones others have described. Was ghosted and after contacting the recruited past when I was told I would be followed up with got a haphazardly constructed sentence that I had to read three times to figure out that they were telling me they pursued other "leads" (was clearly an afterthought). An excellent interview and horrible follow through. Went in feeling amazing and left feeling very disrespected.

      Entrevista

I interviewed with DUO in January of 2022. I had an initial phone interview with the recruiter which I thought went well then they proceeded to have me answer several written technical writing questions. Answered them professionally and to the best of my ability, submitted them, and then I got an email response telling me DUO has decided to pursue other candidates.

A potential customer is running a free 30-day trial for Duo Beyond. During this important trial phase, our support team works hard to address any questions we can help answer to ensure an amazing customer experience. Our skilled support team sets us apart from many of our competitors. The customer wants to understand the differences in our pricing models. Specifically, they have indicated an interest in the Trusted Endpoints functionality. Please draft an email response to the trial customer question helping them understand the different Duo editions and outlining the benefits of Duo Beyond’s Trusted Endpoints feature set.

      2. Customer Response 2 A new Duo customer has indicated that they are concerned about user duplication within Duo's user records. The customer's users log in to one application using the format "johnsmith@domain.com" and another application using the format "johnsmith". These two usernames represent the same user. The customer is concerned that they're going to have to pay for twice as many licenses to accommodate these "duplicate" users in Duo. Please draft an email response to the customer outlining how our Username Normalization feature can solve this issue and when and how to enable it for applications.

      3. Internal Update There are three weeks remaining in the quarter and your department’s vice president has requested an update on an important project you are managing. Your goal for the quarter was to help develop and implement a system to track the total number of support hours and cost required for each customer, and display this information in an easily referenced dashboard. You are working with three other departments on this project, and a great deal of planning and engineering has been required, with many technical hurdles successfully navigated. The backend of the tracking system has been developed, but there are some concerns that the tool might not be fully implemented for easy viewing by the end of the quarter. You have not begun developing training or reference materials for the new tool. Draft a project update email to the VP

      4. Knowledge Base Article Exercise You have been asked to review the following article about Duo’s Device Health Application before it can be published for public access. Feel free to mark up, leave comments, and/or rewrite the content to create a version you think would be appropriate for publishing on our external Knowledge Base. ======================================================================= What are the policy options for Duo’s Device Health Application? There are three options for policys in the Device Health app: “Don’t Requrie users to have the app”, ‘Require user to have the app only’, “Require users to have the app and any blocking options” The first one is that the policy is not in effect and has no impact on end user access. When “Require user to have the app only” option is selected, but none of the Block Access options are selected, having the Device Health application installed and reporting information to Duo is required for access. The last one means that the Device Status application must be installed and reporting information to Duo and the device must satisfy the specified health requirements for access.
