I received a phone call approx. 2 weeks after applying for the position. My first experience was a phone interview, of which the focus was on past employment and skills as related to the position. On a phone interview, they are truly looking for you to engage in conversation, not just give one word answers, so be prepared to explain your abilities skills. The face-to-face was conducted about a week later. The mindset of Dish is to employee people for a career, not just a job. So think long term, as many questions will ask this, i.e. Where do you see yourself in 5 years, How will you get there, What do you want to acomplish along the way, etc. You will be asked how the corporate values of Pride, Adventure and Winning (living the PAW) fit into your career expectations and goals. Part of this Pride is signing up for Dish service, which is free, so be ready to switch to Dish. Finally, I was given a slide show involving an actual training topic and asked to present it at a later date. This presentation was for the hiring manager and his boss. Stick to the training material; Dish maintains a staff of instructional designers and developers. If they wanted it presented a different way, they would have written it that way. After this presentation, I had one more phone interview, of which the focus was specifically on job description, benefits and compensation. Overall, be prepared for an extensive interview process. Dish prides itself on the individuals that it hires, and it does not hire just anyone.
