      Entrevista para Operations Supervisor

      20 de jun de 2018
      Candidato de entrevista anónimo
      Reno, NV
      Sin ofertas
      Experiencia neutra
      Entrevista fácil

      Solicitud

Me postulé a través de un reclutador. El proceso tomó 6 semanas. Acudí a una entrevista en Chewy (Reno, NV) en may 2018

      Entrevista

*Long, but worth the read!* Recruiter found me on LinkedIn and wanted to schedule a call for an Operations role. Spoke with the recruiter and he explained that the role he has open is an Operations Manager role in Reno, NV. Call went well so he shared my resume with the Sr. Ops. The Sr manager called me a day or two later and asked about my background and explained that the role he's looking to fill is for Operations Supervisor. I explained the recruiter informed me it was for an Operations Manager position. The Sr. said he'd follow up with recruiter about that. Two hours after the call I received a call and email from the recruiter stating that Chewy would like to invite me for an onsite interview for the Ops Sup. role. He explained that I can't be considered for a Ops Mgr role because, and I quote verbatim, my "age in leadership is young" and that Chewy is looking for Ops Mgrs who have "managed salaried employees" (I did my research and there's multiple Ops Mgrs at Chewy who were onboarded as Ops Mgrs without prior experience in managing salaried employees and as "young" as myself). The onsite interview scheduling was disorganized. 3 days later they finally emailed asking for transportation information. Didn't hear from them again until two days later when they called to ask me would I drive 6 hours to a different city because flying from my home city airport would cost "$1500." I said no and gave two other airport options in proximity. The recruiter said he'd have to contact the Direct of Talent Acquisition to see if he would, and I quote again, "foot the bill" and if we'd be able to "move forward with the onsite interview." Guess it worked out, they booked my flight from some airport 2 hours away from my home. I had two layovers, one of those was 5 hours (so I guess that was the cheapest option). The onsite interview was well. I met with two Sr Ops for the first hour or so and they gave me all the time I wanted in asking questions. They were nice guys but some of the very important/tough questions I had, they failed to adequately answer the questions. Overall a good interview session. I did a tour of the FC and then had another interview session with 1 HR rep and the GM. Overall a good session. When I asked the GM what does she think the Sr. leaders, as a whole, need to improve on and how has she addressed those opportunities with them and what plan has she implemented to mitigate those barriers, she said that she can't talk about that because that's "personal." I wasn't looking for specifics within each Sr member, just a general "I think they could do this better" answer. I find it a red flag refusing to address opportunities among her team. Another big red flag was another interview review for an Ops Sup. Role posted on Glassdoor. The reviewer spoke about lack of diversity within the building and that they knew they wouldn’t get the job because of that. The reviewer was right. There’s a great lack of diversity among the Leadership Team and, from what seemed like to me, a lack of inclusivity as well. Overall, the onsite interview was good. When I left other candidates were entering the office to interview for the same position. The interview was about a month ago and I haven't had any follow up so I'm guessing they chose another candidate or still interviewing candidates. The position is still posted.

Had 2 phone interviews then was asked to do a face-to-face. I interviewed with Director of HR, GM, AGM and Head of Talent acquisitions. It was a round robin style. Very informal and more of conversation between two people than an interview. Was offered the job the next day and accepted.

      Entrevista

Had 2 phone interviews with a recruiter then with the senior ops manager. Then I was flown out to Reno Nevada to meet the GM and 3 other people. 1 was missing. The in person interview was very rushed very little questions about my background more just telling me what to expect in the role. It really bothered me how there was NO minorities in leadership. To be honest I kind of knew I wouldn’t get the role when I saw that. Overall the experience was cool as I’ve never had an employer fly me out, put me In a hotel and provide a rental. Wish the interview matched the rest of the experience.
