It was a very good experience , the interviewer was very nice and patient, very interested in extra-curricular activities outside of work . Very keen on seeing how skills you have apply to everyday life . Didn't get the job because I couldn't start straight away and it was a temp position

The interview was just a one on one conversation with one of the assistant managers. It was quite a short interview and relatively relaxed. I found out I got the job after the interview had finished.

Entrevista

A month after I had applied for the job I was told that I had made it through to the interview stage. The interview was fairly intense as it was non stop scenario questions. The interviewer then took me to the shop floor and asked me to sell an item to her. I was then asked to go ask customers if they needed any help. Then the interviewer took me back to the interview room and had small talk with me for five minutes. The interview lasted about 35 minutes in total.

Entrevista

The interview was a brief chat with the managing director to learn more about me. There was an in store assessment , which involved a few short exercises on the shop floor to test my customer service skills and to see what it is like to work for the Boots team.

Entrevista

The process is made up of an online application which consists of a situational judgement test and a personality test. Oddly they don’t ask for a CV or any sort of employment/education history; I’m guessing because it’s a temp job and maybe they wanna hire as many as possible without taking too much time but I don’t know. Situational judgement: Usual test where they ask what you would do in certain scenarios e.g. what would you do if something wasn’t in stock and a customer really needed it. This part was fairly straightforward. Personality test: They would ask a question where there are two options and you would pick the option that you most relate to. This was to see if you’ll be a right ‘fit’ for boots. E.g. which most describes you? “I change the way I do tasks when it starts to become repetitive” or “I stick to tasks the way I’m instructed”. Something along those lines. The next day they emailed me saying their interview slots had all been filled but they liked my application. I had forgotten about the job and assumed I wasn’t successful but I got an email about 11 days later saying there were slots available and I did my interview on Monday 5th. The interview: They mentioned it was going to be a group interview and when I got there there was almost 30 people waiting and we were split into 2 halves. We each went with an interviewer into our separate rooms with our respective groups. Within the room there were 2 other people observing and asking questions; both of the other people were managers at different boots stores in surrounding areas. We had to introduce ourselves, say why we left our last jobs and why we wanted to work for boots. After that she asked everyone what they knew about boots so this was our chance to show off our knowledge about the brand, what their values are, the boots advantage card and that sort of thing. After, we did some role-play so we went to the shop floor and one of the managers pretended to be a customer looking for hand cream. She told us to think of the type of questions we would ask her so someone asked if she had sensitive skin, any allergies, dry skin. We asked other questions and she gave us advice about what to expect on the role and during christmas times. We went back to the interview room and we were asked why we should be hired instead of others which was kind of awkward lol because it was in front of everyone so you really had to sell yourself and not be ashamed. Some people were shy and didn’t say anything - it was kinda intimidating saying this in front of 3 managers and a room full of people but if you want the job enough you wouldn’t mind about that. The thing with group interviews is that because there’s so many people you have to fight to stand out and not say something silly but it was an overall calm atmosphere and good interview. It wasn’t too long maybe just over an hour. We were told that we’ll hear back within 10 days or 2 weeks at the latest (which is why I put no offer) which is quite long but we wouldn’t start until the end of november anyway so it makes sense. Advice: Be confident, try stand out, explain why your experience is necessary, ask questions to appear eager and interested and try not to feel intimidated by others. I know this was really long but I hope it helps :)

No CV needed. Simple application form followed by a personality test. Then received an email inviting to a group interview lasting for 90 mins. Actually on that day, 4 candidates showed up and was divided to two groups. The interviewer is very nice and friendly. She gave us a piece of paper, it's a scenario question: a customer has no idea what to buy for friends birthday gift. three questions: 1.what will you ask to help? 2.what way? 3.anything else you can do to help? We think about them for 5 mins than we started to talk. Then we was on the shopping floor, she gave us another paper, let us observe a specific department area, think about 1.what appeals to customer? 2.if you have 5 mins, what would you do to improve this area, 3.what if you have 30 mins? 5 mins later we came back upstairs and talk about these question. Then the interview ended. Just two simple task, without CV, without story-telling. Lasting just about 30 mins.
