      Entrevista

I went through a hiring process with Aha!, and the experience was manipulative and disrespectful. It extended my period of unemployment and worsened my financial situation. Here's a summary of what happened: * 1. Initially promised 4 interviews in 2 weeks, but it extended to 8 interviews and meetings (extra interviews labeled as "meetings”) over 33 days, involving over 35 email exchanges and random calls from the hiring manager. * 2. From the third interview, they consistently implied an offer, using phrases like 'congratulations,' 'we've got good news for you!' 'the team is very impressed!' and 'we'd like to give you an offer!' The interviews eventually increased to 8. * 3. Although the job post was for a full-time position, they later mentioned it would be a contract role with undisclosed benefits "not mentioned in the offer letter." I asked for them in written form but was ignored. * 4. There was a rush and pressure to obtain a 'yes' to a verbal offer without allowing me enough time to review the contract. * 5. They requested a home assignment for their product as part of the interview process, which can be considered as unpaid work. * 6. The written offer was rescinded just as I was about to sign and return it even after they conducted reference checks with the three contacts I provided. I requested a reason but they simply stated that they had decided to go with another candidate, which didn't sound reasonable at all given the stage of the hiring process. * Throughout the process, especially with the CEO, there were frequent changes in their statements, leading to significant time wasted. It was the most manipulative and disrespectful interview experience I've ever had. I would recommend nobody apply to this company. -------------- * - They rescinded the written offer without even saying “Sorry”. It should have been decided upon earlier if you respected candidates who applied for their company. * - I briefly questioned the job title change from UX Designer to Sr. UX Designer since there was a discussion about the role regarding Sr. vs Intermediate and I was quickly aligned with it during our discussion, which should be understandable. * - They didn’t provide the benefit information in written format and was somewhat complex to understand them all, verbally. I asked a question to confirm, and we agreed that it met my salary expectations. * - The written offer was sent on Friday evening. It was two days after the verbal offer, which was 2 days delayed from when you promised to provide it. As I clearly communicated with them, I was out of town and I needed a bit of time to review the written offer before signing, which can’t be the reason for rescinding.

I feel badly that you felt compelled to delete your original post from a few days ago to only repost a slight variation of it. I am posting my original response to you below. ====================== I understand your frustration. I was personally involved in the process as you have explained. We do take a thorough approach which benefits candidates and the company because both are making a major commitment to each other. We are a fully distributed company. And we do ask all design candidates to complete a short assignment. We clearly explained the role and that we were actively talking with other candidates. No matter, we take responsibility for what transpired. We also suggest that you should reflect on your part in the process. Multiple conversation were required with you because you were confused abut the role you applied for – including the title. When I personally presented the offer it was meaningfully more than what you explained were your expectations but you then said it was less. You also became unresponsive for a few days. Hiring is difficult for both candidates and companies. And sometimes it just does not work out. We appreciated getting to know you and learning about your compelling background and experience. We wish you the very best and hope that you find the ideal position.
